Esporta Health & Fitness Clubs (usually known as just Esporta) was a chain of health clubs in the United Kingdom, which also once owned clubs in Spain. The clubs offer a wide variety of different fitness facilities, including gyms, swimming pools and courts for racquet sports. In addition they offer a choice of bar food and drinks, spa treatments and live sporting coverage.
Prior to the acquisition of Esporta by Virgin Active, Mistral Technical Services were requested to investigate the energy consumption across all of the portfolio as it was rising and appeared to be “out of control” the scope was to look at a number of sites, report on issues, produce a strategy for reduction then implement it.
Mistral worked with the sites, carrying out audits during normal hours and out of hours, we then produced an holistic approach to reducing the consumption with Energy Champions etc.
The results were fantastic, the right hand graph shows the immediate impact that our project had on consumption.
The two graphs below show forecast consumption based on the results up to week 16 then the actuals up to week 30.
This work gave an actual reduction of over £200K for the remainder of the year.
Esporta Northampton
Mistral replaced an existing 12-year-old York Chiller with an Hitachi Chiller.
As part of the change out all pumps were replaced and a new controls system was installed.
The racquet club was fully operational throughout.
